Format & Rules 2024

General Qualification (Regular Squads)

6 games entries and re-entries. Regular play, lane movement after each game, alternating lanes. Up to 4 athletes per pair.

Single lane competition (SLC)

6 games entries and re-entries. 1 athlete per lane, no lane movements.
Time limit is 90 minutes for 6 games. If the time is up and the athlete did not finish 6 games all remaining frames will be counted with zero. In case of a lane breakdown the time will be added to the affected lane(s). Countdown starts after 10 minutes warmup time as soon as all lanes are ready.

High-Low

Every athlete can participate in a separate High-Low competition for any regular qualifica-tion squads, in which the lowest and the highest game in the squad are added together, to form a separate High-Low standing for the tournament. The entry fee for the High-Low competition is 10€ per squad.
Top 2 in the High-Low standing, not qualified from the general standing or from any other separate standing is qualified for the final step 1.

Desperado squad

1 game

54 athletes will qualify for the final steps

A: Top 18 from the general standing
B: Top 18 from the single lane competition standing
C: Top 4 from a separate standing for squad 3,4,7,10,14 (Early Bird)
D: Top 4 from a separate standing for squad 1,2,5,6,8,9,11,12,13,15,16,17 (Early Bird SLC)
E: Top 2 from the High-Low standing
F: Top 2 from the separate youth U19 (born after 19.5.2005) standing
G: Top 2 from the separate seniors 50+ (born before 9.5.1974) standing
H: Top 4 from the Desperado standing

Athletes are qualified in the order A - B - C – D – E – F – G - H

Top 18 qualifiers from the general standing will be in final step 1 group 3, Top 18 qualifiers from single lane competition standing will be in final step 1 group 2, all other qualified ath-letes will be in Final step 1 group 1.

Finals

Final step 1
54 athletes will be divided in 3 groups to play 3 games in single lane competition play
starting from scratch. Time limit is 45 minutes for 3 games. If the time is up and the ath-lete did not finish 3 games all remaining frames will be counted with zero. In case of a lane breakdown the time will be added to the affected lane(s). Countdown starts after 10 minutes warmup time as soon as all lanes are ready.

Top 27 athletes will qualify for final step 2.
Athletes not continuing will be ranked 28 – 54 according to their standing in final step 1.

Final step 2
27 athletes will play 3 games with the score from final step 1 carried forward.
3 athletes per pair, alternating lanes, lane movement after every game.
Top 12 athletes will qualify for final step 3.
Athletes not continuing will be ranked 13 – 27 according to their standing in final step 2.

Final step 3
12 athletes will play 3 games with the score from final step 1 and 2 carried forward.
2 athletes per pair, alternating lanes, lane movement after every game.
Top 4 athletes will qualify for final step 4.
Athletes not continuing will be ranked 5 – 12 according to their standing in final step 3.

Final step 4
There will be 3 stepladder matches.
Match 1
The athlete seeded 4 and the athlete seeded 3 will play a one-game match. The loser of the match will be ranked 4.
Match 2
The winner of match 1 and the athlete seeded 2 will play a one-game match The loser of the match will be ranked 3.
Match 3
The winner of match 2 and the athlete seeded 1 will play a one-game match The loser of the match will be ranked 2.
The winner of the match will be ranked 1.

Tournament tie rules

Qualification
The highest positioned athlete will be the athlete scoring the highest last game. If a tie still exists, the highest positioned athlete will be the athlete with the highest second last game etc.
Desperado
A tie influencing who will qualify for the first final step will be broken by playing a 9th and 10th frame roll off, repeated until the tie is broken.

The High-Low
In case of a tie, the highest positioned athlete will be the athlete with the highest position after the qualification.

Final Step 1-3
Ties influencing who will qualify for the next final step will be broken by playing a 9th and 10th frame roll off, repeated until the tie is broken. In all other tie situations in step 1-3, a procedure similar to the procedure for the qualification will be followed.

Final step 4
In case of a tie, a one-ball roll-off on a full set of pins will be played and repeated until the tie is broken.
